It’s December 5th which means it’s finally acceptable to talk to you about Christmas. I always try and follow the unspoken rule of not mentioning the holiday during other months ( don’t worry, I am one of the good ones hah) and I am super excited to finally show you the content I have created ahead of the holiday season! I am one of these people who LOVE Christmas, yes that had to be caps lock because I do really mean it. It’s undoubtedly my favorite time of the year and although I really enjoy the beauty of it, sometimes I find it very hard to get into the Christmas spirit. Either that is work or personal life, there is always something in my life that doesn’t let me enjoy the moment fully. With years, I found a few small tricks that help cheer up my mood and get me into the Christmas spirit and today I’ll be sharing three things that I bought recently to fight those holiday blues.
Molton Brown Christmas Advent Calendar
Advent Calendars are the best way to get excited for Christmas. They make great gifts for friends and family but I particularly love getting them for myself! It’s the perfect way to end a tiring at work and get into the holiday mood. I mean, who wouldn’t like having a little surprise every day for almost a whole month? Now that’s what I call Christmas Spirit hah! The Molton Brown Cabinet of Scented Luxuries Advent Calendar is probably the most renowned advent calendar and the best one around at the moment. With 24 treats behind its door, the calendar offers a variety of Molton Brown products ranging from perfumes to moisturizers to some of their best selling body washes. Also, all the items are from the winter collections so don’t expect to find any citrus smell behind those closed doors. Molton Brown is really going with the Christmas theme and I love it!
For the purpose of this review, I opened all the boxes and I am giving you a rundown of my top 3 favorite products from the Advent Calendar. ( Spoilers ahead. Scroll down to the next item if you like surprises, keep reading if you interested in purchasing full-size products from Molton Brown.)
- Tobacco Absolute Eau De Toilette: I was SO excited when I saw that Tobacco Absolute is in the calendar. Normally pricier products like this are excluded from sets but in the Cabinet of Scented Luxuries Advent Calendar, you will find two full sized perfumes which are priced at £90 together, making the calendar a clear worth for its money. The Tobacco Absolute fits perfect for the winter months and it’s not just going to be standing on your shelf along with the other perfumes that your nana gave you years ago. Notes like bergamot, cedarwood, tobacco, and leather create this complex warm and woody smell that will get you addicted.
- Black Peppercorn Body Wash: My first ever Molton Brown purchase and an all-time favorite of mine. Black Peppercorn is undoubtedly one of the most beloved products from the brand and if you have used it before, you can surely understand why. The spicy notes and long-lasting scent make the Black Peppercorn Body Wash a great item that every man should have ( or at least try!).
- Mesmerizing Oudh Accord & Gold Shower Gel: This shower gel screams Christmas. I had actually never tried it before but I absolutely love its unique and rich Middle Eastern smell. This collection can be used by both male and female but the best part is that there are actual flakes of real gold inside the bottle! Now if this is not the most glamorous £20 present available then I don’t know what it is. The Shower Gel also comes in a Christmas Bauble for that extra Christmassy touch!
JO MALONE DARK AMBER & GINGER LILY CANDLE
One of my absolute favorite things to do that get me into the Christmas mood is light up candles in my house. I have noticed, a wintery smell in the house can really bring that festive spirit and cheer up my mood. And since I have no time (or cooking skills) for baking gingerbread cookies, the easiest way for me is to light up a candle either on my bedstand or living room. Having tried many different candles the past year, I found out that the Jo Malone Dark Amber & Ginger Lily is by far the nicest smell to me!
Even though on the pricier side, the candle will last you for a couple of months and it will be ultimately worth the extra pounds. Jo Malone is famous for their high-quality products and especially their amazing smelling candles, so it’s no surprise that I keep coming back to this one! The Dark Amber & Lily candle is very nicely presented and a great addition to the room, which it fills up in only 10 minutes. I am so excited to be burning this one again and watching TV with some hot cocoa in the sofa.. Christmas goals or no?
Pierre Marcolini Advent Calendar
An advent calendar but with chocolates, how much better can this get? And I am not talking about any advent calendar, but the advent calendar of the luxury Belgian chocolatier Pierre Marcolini. Every day you are in it for a treat! with 9 pralines, 9 “planètes”, 3 “cœurs” (nougat, pistachio and caramel), 2 pavés de tours (fondant and milk), 2 câlins (fondant and milk), a golf ball, all put randomly behind each door. I am already on Day 5 and I love the different variety of chocolate inside (my personal favorite being the praline planets). The colorful packaging is very beautiful and unique and having one of his chocolates every day makes me feel so bougie! (which is exactly what I am looking forward every Christmas time, treat yourself AM I RIGHT!!?). The box also makes a great gift during the Holiday season, if you manage not to eat them in a single seating!
